Living Water Spiritual Center. Winslow Maine. Retreat... Renew... Reconnect. Retreatinmaine.com

Many people find that they need time to “get away” from the pace of everyday life
and be refreshed, physically, mentally, and spiritually.
Individuals seeking self-directed time apart for solitude, rest, and prayer
may schedule a private retreat for one or more nights
whenever rooms are available at the Center.
During your private retreat, you will have access to the library and chapel,
the sunroom, and the southwest room.
In warm weather, you may use the pool, gazebo, and screened porch.
Trails are available year round. If desired, Spiritual Direction is available
at an additional fee during your private retreat.

Guidelines for Private Retreats
We’ve created some guidelines to help orient you to the Center schedule.  Please read them and contact us if you have any questions.  We pray that our hospitality and the Center’s resources will help make your retreat meaningful.

  •  Arrival:  Because we want to greet you personally, it helps us greatly if you arrive as close as possible to the time listed on your confirmation form.  If you will be late, please call and let us know.  Upon arrival, come to the front entrance and ring the doorbell.  We will greet you and then ask you to park behind the building and come in through the retreat center entrance where someone will greet you and show you to your room.

  •  Silence:  Some private retreatants prefer silence, others prefer the opportunity for conversation.  Let us know your preference when you arrive, and we will respect your choice. If there is a group in the house and you wish to eat in silence, feel welcome to take your food and eat on the snack room side of the dining room. We ask that you maintain silence on the bedroom floor in respect for others who may be staying at the Center.

  • Meal Times: Breakfast: 8:00 AM.  Lunch:  NOON    Dinner: 5:30 PM. Sometimes the chef will not be on the premises.  In this case, she will leave meals and instructions in the snack room fridge for you, and you may eat whenever you wish.  The main meal of the day is served at noon.

  • Dietary Needs:  Our buffet offers healthful, balanced, and diverse options. If you are have food allergies or are on a restricted diet due to a medical condition, please write those restrictions clearly on the confirmation form.  If you have specific dietary preferences, please feel welcome to supplement our choices with food brought from home.

  • Handicap Accessibility: Chair lifts are installed for those who find stairs difficult.  Please let us know in advance of any special physical needs so that we can do everything possible to meet your needs.

  • Use of the Facilities:  You are welcome to use any common rooms in the Center (chapel, sunroom, library, conference room and southwest room--unless another group is using the space), gazebo, pool, and trails in season. Generally speaking, if a door is closed to a room we assume it is being used by someone who wants privacy.

  • Spiritual Direction:  Spiritual direction is available upon request (fee for service). Please call to arrange direction before arriving at the Center.

  •  Smoking:   Smoking is not allowed anywhere in the building.  If you need to smoke, please do so outside and away from the building entrance.

  • Final Day: If you are able, please strip and remake your bed, and place your towels and sheets in the marked laundry chutes on the bedroom hallway.

  • For your safety, we do not allow candles in bedrooms.

  • The rear-building door is locked.  You will be given a code to let yourself in during your stay at the Center.

  • If you use the trails, please follow the sign out directions beside the exit door for your safety.

  • Additional information about the Center is available in the desk drawer in each bedroom.
