Wisdom from the Well |
|
Sometimes the most important thing in a whole day
is the rest we take between two deep breaths,
or the turning inwards in prayer
for five short minutes.

The Thinking Heart: Variations of Etty
Hillesum's Writing. Through Etty Hillesum's spiritual and
emotional journey from Nazi-occupied Amsterdam to Westerbork and
Auschwitz, she prayed to become "the thinking heart" and "to act as a balm
for all wounds." In words and music, Martin Steingesser, Judy Tierney and
Robin Jellis present this original interpretation of Etty Hillesum's life
story based on her writing. Colby History professor Raffael Scheck will
offer an overview of modern European history following the performance. September 28, 2008, 2-4pm. Fee: $15.
