Living Water Spiritual Center in Winslow is a retreat space sponsored by the
Sisters of St. Joseph. We strive to offer hospitality and programming that
is open to the yearning of all people who seek to grow spiritually. Our
programming includes offerings from all the major religious and spiritual
traditions, including: Christian retreats, Buddhist meditation, nature
programs, interfaith dialogue, ecumenical worship, and spiritual practices
from many different disciplines.
The Center invites you to experience comfortable gathering space, cheerful
private rooms, home-cooked and healthy food, and time apart from the
busyness of daily life to retreat, renew, and reconnect with all that you
hold sacred. Our clean meeting rooms and well-stocked library delight
first-time and returning guests. Located on 61 acres along the Sebasticook
River, with a network of four maintained woodland trails, a gazebo, an
outdoor pool, a labyrinth, and the beauty of open space and perennial
gardens, the Center is a safe and peaceful setting to enjoy nature, unwind,
and feel revitalized.

Background
The facility is owned and the ministry sponsored by the Sisters of St. Joseph of
Lyon, American Province. The building, built in 1965 as a novitiate, is
their Provincial headquarters and is residence for a small group of Sisters.
In June 1994, the Center opened for the primary purpose of offering as well as
hosting retreats and programs of spiritual renewal for men and women of all
faiths. The name St. Joseph Christian Life Center was given in the '70s when the
facility hosted various groups for retreats. In June 1999, a new name was
chosen for the center: "Living Water Spiritual Center in order to
reflect a more inclusive mission and purpose as well as highlight the focus on
eco-spirituality.
